Grocery Store Confusion

I have never really thought about the difference in single men, men with girlfriends, and married men until I went to the grocery store last night. I will excuse my sweet husband from this, since he used to work in the grocery store, so he has always known his way around very well. He also happens to be a fabulous cook! Anyway, I ran to the store for a few items after work last night, and realized I was surrounded by single men and men with girlfriends.

Married ladies, do your husbands help you grocery shop? Did they help you shop before you were married? Ladies with boyfriends/fiances-what about you all?

I was in the pasta aisle, picking up some marinara sauce for eggplant parmesan, and I over hear a man in his late 20's/early 30's on the phone. He was on the phone with someone that sounded like a significant other. I didn't see a ring, so I'm assuming girlfriend. His conversation went soemthing like:
"Sweetie, I'm sorry but we can't have Sweedish Meatballs tonight. (pause) Because I can't find a kit for it. I looked everywhere. I'm in the sauce aisle now, and there is nothing that says Sweedish Meatballs on it. (pause) I'm sorry, but I can't find anything, anywhere that says Sweedish Meatballs." Oh boy. Poor guy.

I laughed to myself a bit, got my marinara, and went on to the next aisle. I then come across two guys that were probably still in college (especially because of the way they used the word "man"about every other word.) I laughed even harder when I heard their conversation:
"Hey yo man, you got a pot?"
"Huh?"
"You know man, a pot."
"Like, the thing you made noodles in?"
"Yeah man, that. A pot."
"Ah! Naw man, I ain't got one. I bet we could borrow one. Call (insert name that I can't remember here.) I bet she's got one."

Oh my. I know I'm still learning to cook, but really?! It certainly made for a funny trip to the grocery store!

that's HILARIOUS! Since I've been married, I haven't gone to the grocery store alone. Not once. Mark alllllways goes with me! We have a thing for grocery shopping though :]

Oh that's so funny! Poor boys.... Ed knows his way around the store too. Sometimes we go together, or each of us have been known to go by ourselves. I'm pretty sure he knows his way around better than I do. lol

Okay, that college guy conversation is beyond hilarious! Too funny!

Chris and I *always* went/go shopping together. Ever since we were engaged. (I don't think we did when we were "dating" because we only did for four months and we didn't live in the same city so we hardly saw each other.) Anyway...I make the menus and list and he pushes the cart beside me (or behind me if it's busy) and I put the things in the cart and mark off the list. And he keeps track of the total amount on his phone calculator. The only time we go without the other is if one of us is sick. I get all anxious if we don't do our normal routine. It's pathetic. Ha.

Uhh...okay, I'm sure that's more, WAY more, than you wanted in response. :)

oh my!! that is way too funny!!

i do all the grocery shopping, alone. my fiance has gone to the store once in the past year and that was last week. in the past 3 years he might have gone a handful of times but that's it. i tend to go at least 2 times a week.
my fiance went to the store for an onion and he said he wandered around for a while because he hasn't been grocery shopping in so long. haha!! i can just imagine him wandering around the entire store and only having to buy one thing.

Good old men! My husband can find the milk and donut isle, but could care less about ANYTHING else!!

We don't usually have big grocery shopping trips, I go quite often...usually a couple times a week when I think of stuff I need. My fiance comes with me sometimes, but usually I go inbetween things I have going on. On my way from work to a meeting at church or somewhere else. If he is around, then we go together. Although when we are together, we end uo buying way more junk than when I am alone!
