Making the Cut

So I finally did it.  I've been thinking about it for a really long time, but I finally did it.  I feel a little bit bad about it.  A little.

I cleaned up my Facebook list.

It seems a bit harsh, I know.  But it is time.  It's time to get rid of those I went to high school with that I haven't been in contact with since graduation 5 1/5 years ago.  It's time to get rid of the random people I no longer keep in touch with.  It's time to get rid of people that won't notice that I've deleted them anyway.  It's just time.

I just didn't delete people randomly.  I kept the people that I have been in contact with in the past 6 months.  People I am still friends with IRL.  Coworkers. My Bloggy girls.  Family.

Don't think you fit with those criteria and still see my profile?  Maybe you made the cut another way:

I kept people that I have "stalked" (aka have something interesting going on in your life besides constant drama) in the last 6 months.

I kept some that are always in drama that I never talk to strictly for entertainment purposes.

I kept people who always put up a status that cracks me up.

I kept people with really cute kids.

I kept people that post funny YouTube videos.

And of course a ton of other ridiculously silly reasons.

You get the idea-if I'm still in contact with you in the least little bit, I kept them on my "friends" list.  Now that I'm in the professional world, I don't feel that 557 people need to know what's going on in my daily life.  So I've begun deleting people.

It's actually quite liberating.

Tell me, have you ever cleaned up your Facebook list? Did you feel a little guilty?

I haven't cleaned up my list in forever but I probably should. There are people on there that I've probably never even talked to!

This reminds me-- I once had a former coworker post "Cleaning out my facebook and getting rid of tons of people" as her status update. The next day I noticed I couldn't access her profile anymore! I wasn't offended since we barely knew each other, but it probably wasn't the best way to go about it!

I have cleaned up my Facebook lately, and no I didn't feel guilty. I felt like a few people only wanted to add me so they could be nosey...so I took the axe to them, haha!

Good for you!!! I may have to do the same. Love you cousin!

p.s. Did you delete anyone in particular because their bling wasn't big enough? hahaha...

I need to do this. It's stressful to have all that excess baggage!

I agree with you Paige! Getting rid of people in the facebook world is a good way of removing baggage. I have done the cleaning up of facebook and I don't feel bad about it at all!
